Letting kids be kids -- Victoria BC children's photographer

UPDATE: There are still a few Fall mini-session spots available. Take advantage of this rare and amazing deal and get your fall and Christmas photos done while we still have some sunny days left! Email me at konul@thelightwithinphoto.com to reserve your slot.

A little while back, I did a photo shoot with a family who has politely requested that I not post their children's pictures on my blog. That's not uncommon and I can understand that... But, while they were making their order, I tried to convince them to let me post some of my favorites (uncharacteristically of me, I might add)... Now, I am proud of all of my shoots, but I am even more proud of these shots... (Let's hope they'll let me indulge a bit. ;)

-"Why these photos?" - You may ask. Because they are soooo real. Sometimes, I get a photo shoot that is just effortless... Don't get me wrong, those can be nice... But other times, a photo shoot can be just so chaotic and crazy, and those...well - those can be wonderful! That photo shoot was the epitome of a photo session where the children did everything their mother asked them NOT to do! But that's just it... they were being a real family. The kids were playing, the mother was rolling her eyes, and I... well, I was in a photographer's dream. I got the opportunity to capture children being children, and a mother struggling to find her patience - and then finally relenting to "just let kids be kids..."

There's a certain poetry, serenity, and peaceful freedom in letting children be in the moment... If it wasn't for moments like these, it's easy for us to forget that this time is precious and rare and slipping away one minute at a time...

So for those of you out there in "inter-land" (as my techie hubby calls it), sometimes you gotta "just let go, and just be" - and sit back and take it all in...

So... I did recently - and here's what I saw...
